Safety and standards
Precast elements are heavy, high-value and often finished. How they are loaded, secured and driven matters as much as when they arrive.
Load securing
Every load is secured to its weight and shape before it leaves the yard.
- Timber bearers aligned to manufacturer support points
- Chains or straps rated to the load
- Edge protectors at every contact point
- Upright panels strapped to both faces of the A-frame
- Securing checked before departure and after the first stop
- Finished faces kept clear of chains and metal contact
Drivers and vehicles
Drivers are the backbone of the fleet. These procedures apply on every vehicle.
- Strict limits on driver working hours
- Regular driver health checks
- Training and mentoring on heavy and precast loads
- Maintenance log for every vehicle
- Scheduled vehicle inspections
- GPS monitoring across the whole fleet
Running efficiently
The name Shimla comes from the hill town in northern India where our founder's story begins. We aim to run a fleet that respects the environment it works in.
- Routes planned and checked with GPS data
- Idling monitored and reduced
- Fuel use tracked per vehicle
- Driver behaviour monitored through ID buttons
